With Indian School of Business set to release interview invites for shortlisted candidates from Round 1 applications, we, at Team Fly, wanted to give you an idea of what to expect by delving into the interview experiences of one of our mentors.
In this post, Shraddha Verma (CA and ISB’21 Dean’s & Merit List awardee; currently in a Business Finance role at Swiggy ) shares her ISB interview experience.
Q1: How was your ISB interview experience?
The interview took place at an ITC hotel. Upon entering the room, I was greeted by four ISB alumni. The atmosphere was relaxed and friendly; it felt more like a conversation than a stressful interview. Overall, it lasted about half an hour.
Q2: What were some of the questions asked during the interview?
Most questions were focused on my past experiences, aspirations, and how ISB could help me achieve my goals. Key questions included:
Describe a major project where you made an impact (they asked follow-up questions to gauge my depth of understanding)
What excites you the most about ISB? (I discussed electives, the bidding system, and the foreign exchange program)
Why pursue an MBA? (I talked about my aspirations and identified skill gaps that an MBA would help fill)
Q3: How should candidates approach these questions?
Since most questions usually relate to work experience, knowing your role and how your contributions align with organizational goals is crucial. Additionally, having clarity about your future aspirations and understanding why you & ISB are a good fit is vital.
Q4: What advice do you have for aspirants preparing for interviews?
Practice mock interviews
Stay honest & calm during the interview
Ensure you have clear short-term & long-term goals
Prepare to articulate how an MBA from ISB fits into your career plans at this stage of your life
